Christina was born in New Brunswick, Canada; and now resides in the
Ottawa area. She made her home in Kars near the Rideau
River and she still maintains a strong connection to the East
Coast. She was brought up to recognize and appreciate the diversity and
beauty of nature during many walks and solitary moments in the forest and
portaging through Algonquin Park.
After exploring different medias and creative outlets, painting has become a strong focus to express her love of nature and the places she has been. Although she has been mostly self-taught, she also attended the Ottawa School of Art in 2005. This helped her refine her technique, renew her ideas and strengthen her motivation. The medium she uses is acrylic. Christina says "I am always trying new techniques and enjoy experimenting and challenging myself."
Christina has enjoyed many local showcases of her work including
being one of the featured artists at the CLSG (Canadian Leukemia
Studies Group) Charity Gala in 2005 and 2008, The Annual Discovery/Studio Tour in
2005, 2009 -2012. She currently has her work on display at the Hodge Podge Shoppe in manotick ( www.thehodgepodgeshoppe.com )Homestead
Gallery in Kemptville ( http://www.homestead-gallery.com ). She
also is a member of the Manotick Art Association and is part of their
annual spring art show "A Brush with Art".
Christina has tried many different media's. Now she finds herself rotating between jewelery, knitting & felting, and now is now including custom wall art in clients homes. "I am constantly shifting and evolving my art whether it's a new design for a necklace or painting tall slender tress in someones home. Naturally flowing and circling like the wind and constantly changing like a river, never staying in one place for long."
Christina's work exemplifies places she has been to, and loves and longs for, creatively displaying simplified or detailed shapes, space, and light from the Mother she loves so much, Nature.
"I paint to evoke the sentiments connected to these places; whether it is the power of the ocean, the magical solitude of the trees, or the peace and calm of Algonquin Park."
"I paint to be there again."
